In fifth place is 2019’s supernatural romance film Above the Shadows, which received a 63% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In the movie, Ritchson played a disgraced MMA fighter who’s the only one who can see Olivia Thirlby’s invisible character, Holly. Some critics applauded director Claudia Myers’ inventive original concept.
They were also impressed by the film’s clever take on the story’s emotional themes like grief and loneliness. Other critics also acknowledged the on-screen chemistry between Ritchson and Thirlby. Taking the fourth spot is Netflix’s 2026 sci-fi action film War Machine, which featured Ritchson as an unnamed U.
S. Army Staff Sergeant who links up with the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program after his brother’s death. It currently holds a 66% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
