Creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay aim to finish the HBO series“On an unparalleled high.” HBO and series creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay have affirmed that season 4 of Industry clinched’t be the show’s last—a fifth installment is on the way. “For four seasons, Industry has thrilled us while examining power, money, politics, and class,”Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of programming and the head of drama series and films at HBO, stated in an official statement.
“Under Mickey and Konrad’s ambitious and singular vision, it has solidified itself as an important contemporary, genre-bending drama in HBO’s lineup that keeps viewers on the edge of their seat week after week.” She continued,“It is gratifying that viewers and critics have recognized season 4 as bigger and more thrilling than ever, buoyed by career-defining performances from our magnificent cast. Down and Kay—who serve as the show’s creators, showrunners, writers, directors, and executive producers—shared a statement on February 25 about their decision to finish the series after the next season, explaining that they want it to end on a high note.
“We’re privileged to have joined the small, esteemed club of dramas that have run for five seasons on HBO,”the pair wrote in a joint statement. “This March marks a decade since we first began to conceive of the world of Industry, and it exists because of the unwavering faith and vision of our partners and former partners at HBO—Casey, Frannie, Kara, Cela, Sam, Kathleen, and Max. Without Jane Tranter’s imagination and belief, the show would simply be a dead idea in a drawer somewhere.
She—alongside her partners at Bad Wolf—has been our guiding light and fiercest champion. We’d also like to thank the BBC for their partnership.” They continued,“For some time now we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high.
Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party. We’d like to thank our evangelical fan base, especially those who have watched from day one. Finally: we owe everything to our crew and the best cast on TV for making our writing live.
The characters will live on because of their world-class performances. Seeing the HBO ident in front of our work will never stop being a thrill. It remains the best place to make television, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration well into the future.”
Myha’la, who plays Harper Stern, reacted to the news with humor, and shared a video of a cake bursting into flames—a representation of her mindset now that the series will end soon. “Industry 5, gunna go out w a bang,”she wrote, adding that she will give the show’s final season“Everything I’ve got.” Marisa Abela, who plays Yasmin Kara-Hanani, shared Deadline’s Instagram post about the news to her Instagram Story, and added a“🫡”emoji.
Max Minghella, who plays Whitney Halberstram, took a similar approach and shared Down and Kay’s statement to his Instagram Story with a red heart emoji. Kit Harington disclosed in his March 2026 interview with Variety that the Industry season 4 finale made him realize just how tragic of a character Henry is:“He’s not covered himself in glory, has he? But then, he wouldn’t.
I watched the final two episodes with Mickey and Konrad the other night, and I came away saying, “God, Henry is a tragic character.” I enjoyed playing him so much that I hadn’t realized quite how tragic he was. But what fun.
The arc of this season for me was,“Can you at any point feel for this guy?” If anyone did, even for a moment, then I think I achieved something.” Myha’la and Abela sat down with The A.
V. Club to discuss Yasmin and Harper’s dynamic in the last episode, in which the pair have their final confrontation. “I’m being Yasmin in this new place, and Harper is seeing Yas and trying to get her out of it,”Abela recalled.
“What you see in that scene is the two of us discovering for the first time what it looks like when Yas is drowning and unable to save herself or accept help. At what point do they look at each other and need to say, “We need to walk away from this? ’”Myha’la added,“We were also really lucky because we filmed that club scene and the bar scene in the finale before in chronological order because, to me, that was the most vulnerable, real, and intimate they’ve ever been, with no ulterior motives or agenda.
And I feel like that scene that Yas and Harper have in [episode] seven [at the bar] maybe makes that stuff too text? We felt it was a crystallization of their knowledge of each other and their relationship to be able to say what they value in each other, what they aspire to in each other. And I think that’s kind of what binds them together.”
He added,“By the time they get to the end of season five, we want the image, what they’ve become in season five, to be so stark versus season one. And as they ascend and descend and go deeper into the rabbit hole of whatever they’re chasing, [Yasmin and Harper] can provide a kind of baseline litmus test [for each other]: Where are we, who are we? Because they know each other and because they’ve been within the same system.
So in a way there’s a kind of weird spiritual checking in that they’re kind of bound to do, because they’re each other’s sort of perverted mirror.” Industry’s season 4 finale episode has yet to air, but episode 7 did offer some clues about what season 5 might cover: As Yasmin and Henry Muck’s (Kit Harington) marriage hits its breaking point in the wake of Tender’s scandal, Whitney affirms that Henry is facing jail time for fraud and embezzlement. Yasmin later throws Henry under the bus as she works with his uncle, Lord Norton (Andrew Havill), to arrange newspaper coverage in The Patriot, suggesting Labour Party member Lisa Dearn is to blame for the government’s involvement with Tender.
The story causes a chain reaction—Lisa is forced to resign, and Henry is questioned for comment. He seeks Yasmin for assistance, but she’s already resigned from her position at Tender. Can their relationship possibly survive into season 5, and if not, what’s next for them?
Meanwhile, Whitney takes off, leaving Henry to fend for himself, while the company formerly known as SternTao marks Harper’s successful short. But will her victory be short-lived? And even if it lasts, what’s next for their business—now that Eric (Ken Leung) is out of the picture?
Elsewhere in the season, Kiernan Shipka’s character Haley is disclosed to work for an escort service, and may potentially have footage of Henry and Yasmin’s threesome. The actress informed Deadline in a March 2026 interview that she thinks Haley might use the footage to her advantage, despite stating that she deleted it. “In the beginning of the series, it seems like she is with Whitney, on Team Whitney, and then when Yasmin comes into the picture, that definitely changes.
I do, at the end of the day, think that she is a solo operator and will do whatever it takes to have the access and the power and the influence that she wants. I think the season definitely leans toward her having an allegiance with Yasmin. But I don’t know what Haley will stop at.
I think she stops at nothing. I really think she’s that type of person who is not the most trustworthy. So, I don’t know, I don’t know what she’ll do.
I think that she doesn’t have a lot of limits, though.” Kit Harington thinks that Yasmin and Henry will be finished by the next season. “It’s done, I think.
It’s really deeply sad, because they did actually have some sort of love there,”he informed Variety. “That’s what Marisa and I were playing at, investigating and pushing. It wouldn’t be interesting if they weren’t really in love, and it was purely a partnership of convenience.
They ran fast, but it’s clear they’re not the people for each other.” Plot details are still up in the following season, but Kay and Down disclosed in their March 2026 GQ interview that the horror movies Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom and Martyrs are on the mood board. Myha’la and Marisa Abela will return for the final season alongside Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Miriam Petche, Sagar Radia, Toheeb Jimoh, Charlie Heaton, Amy James-Kelly, Roger Barclay, Andrew Havill, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Jack Farthing, Stephen Campbell Moore, Claire Forlani, and Edward Holcroft.
Zosia Mamet is the first new cast member unveiled for season 5. HBO affirmed in a July 2026 Instagram video that she will play Carmen Dame, a fitness influencer who has built a career as the founder and CEO of a wellness technology company. HBO has yet to announce a release date for season 5.
Industry season 4 returned in 2026, two years after season 3 premiered in 2024. Season 2 premiered in 2022, two years after the show debuted in 2020. Following this trend, Industry fans can hopefully expect season 5 to air sometime between 2027 and 2028.
