Recording stars being honored in other fields include Cheech & Chong (motion pictures) and Nicole Scherzinger (live theater/live performance). Karol G, David Guetta, Ramones, Grandmaster Flash and the late Waylon Jennings are among the music stars who are poised to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the coming year. They, along with 27 other names from the worlds of recordings, motion pictures, television, live theater/live performance, radio and sports entertainment, were unveiled at a press conference that was livestreamed from Funko Hollywood in Hollywood on Thursday (July 23).
Singer/percussionist Sheila E. And actress/model Ming-Na Wen (who both have stars on the Walk of Fame) unveiled the new honorees in tandem with Ron Frierson, president/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. For Jennings is this year’s only posthumous star.
The country legend, who was voted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001, passed away in 2002. Two of this year’s honorees are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame – Ramones and Grandmaster Flash, who was inducted into the Rock Hall alongside his group, The Furious Five. Grandmaster Flash isn’t the only hip-hop honoree here: That world is also represented by Lil Wayne as well as DJ Chalamagne tha God, who is known as“Voice of the Culture.”
He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame as a co-host of The Breakfast Club alongside DJ Envy and Angela Yee. Eight of the Walk of Fame honorees are Grammy winners – Karol G, Guetta, Jennings, Marc Shaiman, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park, Lil Wayne and Cheech & Chong. Kate Hudson, who received an Oscar nomination earlier this year for her performance in Song Sung Blue, will receive a star 10 years after her mother Goldie Hawn and stepfather Kurt Russell were jointly honored.
There will be one double ceremony, honoring Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning, who the Walk of Fame states are the first sisters to be jointly honored. Several recording stars are being honored in other fields of endeavor, including Cheech & Chong (for motion pictures) and Nicole Scherzinger (for live theater/live performance). Scherzinger, who clinched a Tony Award in 2025 for Sunset Blvd.
, Jo Koy and dancer Roberto Bolle are the only representatives in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category. Chalamagne tha God is the only representative in the Radio category. Fox sports analyst Jimmy Johnson is the only representative in the Sports Entertainment category.
The Walk of Fame Selection Committee, made up of past Walk of Famers, selected these new honorees from what was described as hundreds of nominations. The selections were ratified by the Hollywood Chamber’s board of directors on July 22. Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, stated in an official statement.
“These extraordinary individuals have each made a lasting impact on audiences around the world through their talent, creativity, and dedication to their craft. We are honored to recognize their remarkable contributions and look forward to celebrating them as they take their place in Hollywood history.” Dates have not been scheduled for these star ceremonies.
Recipients have two years to schedule star ceremonies from the date of selection before they expire. Upcoming star ceremonies are usually unveiled 10 days prior to the dedication on the Walk of Fame’s official website.
