KCB Foundation and CFAO Mobility Kenya have signed a partnership agreement to help young people gain practical skills for careers in the automotive and electric mobility (e-mobility) industry. The initiative will also support women-led businesses and create more employment opportunities in Kenya’s growing mobility sector. Under the agreement, 200 young people—100 supported by KCB Foundation and 100 by CFAO Mobility Kenya—will receive technical and vocational training at the Toyota Kenya Academy starting in January 2027.
The programme is designed to prepare participants for the job market by combining technical training with entrepreneurship support, financial literacy, access to financing, and business opportunities. KCB Foundation Managing Director Mendi Njonjo stated the partnership reflects the changing nature of work and the need to equip young people with practical skills that match industry demand. She noted that, in addition to technical training, participants will learn how to start and grow businesses, manage their finances, access funding, and connect with potential markets.
As part of the programme, participants will receive hands-on training in automotive technology, including specialized courses in electric mobility. The partnership will also provide business incubation, mentorship, and financial literacy training for youth- and women-owned businesses operating within the mobility sector. Entrepreneurs who meet the required criteria will have access to customized asset financing for vehicles, motorcycles, and equipment.
They will also have opportunities to connect with Toyota and CFAO’s supply chain network, subject to procurement and compliance requirements. CFAO Kenya Managing Director Akira Wada stated the mobility industry is changing quickly, making it important to prepare young people with the skills needed for future careers. He added that the partnership will help develop talent, encourage innovation in electric mobility, and strengthen the link between training, industry, and employment.
