2026 has been the biggest year of Patrick Gibson’s career after he made his debut as James Bond in one of the best games of the year, 007 First Light. Developed by IO Interactive, the same studio behind the critically acclaimed Hitman games, 007 First Light was years in the making, and after several setbacks and delays, the game was finally unleashed onto next-generation consoles back in May, and it was an instant hit. The game did so well that, not only did IOI confirm that a sequel to the game is already in the works, fans loved Gibson’s performance so much that many have proclaimed he would be the perfect actor to take over the mantle of 007 in live-action.
Unfortunately for 007 First Light fans, it appears Amazon is going in a different direction for Bond. Gibson had bounced around doing different projects for years before he stepped into Bond’s shoes in 007 First Light, but his most renowned project aired just last year, when he starred as a young Dexter Morgan in Dexter: Original Sin. The prequel show is set years before the events of the original series, and while it did bring back Michael C.
Hall to give Dexter’s inner thoughts a voice, it was Gibson who brought the serial killer to life on the screen. Paramount renewed Dexter: Original Sin for Season 2 before later going back on its word and canceling the show after only one season. Fans are still unhappy with this choice, continuing to rewatch the show at such a high clip that it’s hopped back into the Paramount Plus top 10 in a few countries at the time of writing.
Your answers point to the iconic universe your values, your instincts, and your particular way of seeing the world were built for. This is where you would find your people — and your purpose. You believe in the cause — in the idea that freedom is worth fighting for even when the odds are impossible and the empire is vast.
You understand, in the deepest part of yourself, that the journey matters as much as the destination — and that the world's beauty is worth protecting even at great cost. You believe that love, loyalty, and doing what's right are not naive sentiments — they are the most powerful forces in any world, magical or otherwise. You see the world clearly — its power structures, its hypocrisies, its brutal arithmetic — and you are not paralysed by that clarity.
You use it. You believe the future is worth building — that curiosity, cooperation, and the expansion of understanding are not just ideals but the most practical path forward for any civilisation. The only Dexter show that hasn’t been canceled is Dexter: Resurrection, which returns Michael C.
Hall to his signature role as Dexter Morgan. The first season of the show also featured some major-time stars like Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage. In addition to the now-canceled Dexter: Original Sin, Paramount also decided not to move forward with the planned Trinity Killer spin-off starring John Lithgow.
Dexter: Resurrection has been renewed for Season 2, but it’s unclear at this time when it will be dropped.
