Jennifer Lopez is celebrating her 57th birthday July 24 and her single era. While her love don't cost a thing, she has shared a bit about her life with exes like Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony. The two-time Grammy nominee turns 57 July 24.
But she wasn’t waiting for tonight to get the festivities started. In fact, she kicked them off early with a "Double birthday sister trip" To Europe with Lynda Lopez, who turned 55 June 14. And while Lopez’s love don’t cost a thing, the 400-carats-worth of diamonds she wore to a dinner party in Paris certainly weren't affordable.
But if you were to ask J. Lo, she'd surely say you don’t need a birthday to have a party. Right now, for instance, she’s celebrating just being single.
"Breakups are not a failure," She said in a June episode of Kareem Rahma’s SubwayTakes. "I honestly feel like it’s a launchpad into your next best self. We should have a party when we break up.
People should say, ‘You broke up, congratulations.' Because, one, you made a decision. Two, it was probably the best thing for everybody."
And the singer has learned a thing or two from her spins around the block. "If you’re the one who’s being heartbroken, you’re the winner," She continued. "Because if you go around your life and you’re breaking hearts…you’re the loser."
While Lopez acknowledges she’s "Been on both sides," She feels like she’s grown the most when she's the one left drowning her sorrows. "That’s in work heartbreaks—all of it." Mainly because, "It’s the only time you dig," The Hustlers star added.
"You’re like,'What the f--k happened? Or why didn’t that happen? What could I have done better?'
You change yourself completely." Actually, Lopez, who’s been divorced four times, wishes she dove into the single life earlier. "I should’ve done it sooner," She admitted on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
In May of embracing her unattached status. "I’ve been doing it all wrong." Lopez’s most recent marriage came to an end in 2024, when she and Ben Affleck split after two years as husband and wife.
"You get through it," She told CBS Sunday Morning last September while promoting Kiss of the Spider Woman—a movie she starred in and he produced—eight months after they finalized their divorce. “And honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.” Because while she’d previously called the Oscar winner the love of her life, their breakup, "Assisted me grow in a way that I needed to grow, become more self-aware," She added.
"I’m a different person now than I was last year, I think, a year and a half ago." Bennifer rekindled their early aughts romance in 2021 after she and Alex Rodriguez called off their engagement. "You know, I really have nothing to say about my personal life anymore," She told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2025 about her split from the former baseball player.
"I feel like I’m done with that." Prior to Rodriguez, Lopez sparked romance rumors with Drake in late 2016—with speculation starting months after she and Casper Smart ended their five-year on-again, off-again relationship. And while she and the dancer had an 18-year age gap, they seemed unfazed by the difference.
"The truth is we don’t know what’s going to happen," Lopez told People about her relationship with Smart in 2013. "We’re loving this moment right now. We make each other delighted."
At the time, Lopez said Smart "Assisted me heal" From her and Marc Anthony's divorce. The singers wed in June 2004 and welcomed twins Max and Emme four years later. But in 2011, Lopez and Anthony announced their separation—finalizing their divorce in 2014.
And while the breakup wasn’t easy, they’ve ultimately remained on good terms. "When my marriage wrapped up, it was not easy to find forgiveness," She told W Magazine in 2016. "It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment, and anger.
But Marc is the father of my children and that’s never going away. So, I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do."
Now, Emme and Max—two of Anthony’s eight children—are 18. "Both of my kids got into all their colleges and they both got scholarships and they’re going where they want to go," Lopez raved on a June episode of SmartLess. "I was like,'You did that s--t all by yourself.
Like, you had very little help.' " Before her union with Anthony, Lopez was married to Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998 and Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, also briefly dating Sean "Diddy" Combs in between. But when it comes to those marriages, "Once was nine months and once was 11 months," She said in her 2019 It’s My Party Tour Diary series.
"So, I don’t really count those." Looking back, "I was very young the first two times I tried to get married," Lopez continued. "I’d say tried to get married."
"It seems like in this life you’re always surrounded by people, you’re never lonely—but it’s very lonely," She added. "And so, you always want somebody with you—somebody. So I felt like if I got married, I felt like I would always have somebody.
But that’s not how life works." While the "Jenny From the Block" Artist has suggested she won't tie the knot again, read on to look back at the rocks that she got. Jennifer Lopez married waiter-turned-restaurateur Ojani Noa in 1997 and the two divorced less than a year later.
