‘Widow’s Bay’ Showrunner Officially Affirms Season 2 Filming Timeline [Exclusive]

When it comes to sci-fi, the first displays that come to mind are Severance and Pluribus, but Rebecca Ferguson is currently giving one of the best performances of her career in the third season of Silo, which is in the middle of airing right now. As for thrillers, Anya Taylor-Joy is dominating the service right now with her new show, Lucky, but there’s another series from the horror genre that still has fans talking, more than a month removed from its Season 1 finale.

All 10 episodes of Widow’s Bay are now streaming, and after picking up 19 Emmy nominations, it’s clear that it’s one of the best displays of 2026. Widow’s Bay continuously climbed Apple TV streaming charts throughout its first season, and Apple TV decided the fate of the show only six days before the Season 1 finale, confirming that it had been renewed for Season 2. There has been no official word on when Apple TV plans to release Widow’s Bay Season 2, but this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, showrunner Katie Dippold shared an exciting update about the series.

During Collider’s Showrunners on Showrunning panel, Steve Weintraub questioned Dippold when she knew the show was going to be renewed, and she affirmed that“It was pretty close to when they announced it that it became official, but I was still always hoping and thinking about it.” She continued,“The writer’s room just started this week, and it’s a great room. Then we’re going to be writing for the next 20 weeks.”

When questioned if the plan was to begin filming early next year, she informed Collider,“Yes, exactly,”confirming a 2027 filming timeline. Meanwhile, both Hamish Linklater and Betty Gilpin scored Outstanding Guest Actor and Actress nods for their work in the show.

It would not be surprising to see the show win in a handful of the categories for which it’s been nominated.
